HISTORIC INFO

The University Outing Club was founded in 1931 at Rutgers University in
New Brunswick, NJ. Professors, townspeople and their families were the
first members.  Sharing a desire to be outdoors, they organized weekend
outings, hikes, kayaking trips etc.

The first president was Dr.Earle Perkins. See article under 'Historic information'

Today the club's membership is open to the general public and all those
who enjoy spending time outdoors, learning about their natural environment and
taking excursions to nearby places of interest.

The club's various activities include day hikes, visits to museums,
gardens and historic sites.
It regularly does volunteer trail maintenance and
public park gardening projects in Central Jersey.
There are dinner meetings with
speakers on topics related to our activities.

The club is affiliated with the New York-New Jersey Trail Conference.
