The University Outing Club was founded in 1931 at Rutgers University in
New Brunswick, NJ. Professors and townspeople and their families were the
first members.  Sharing a desire to be outdoors, they organized weekend
outings, hikes and canoe trips.

Today the club's membership is open to all those who enjoy spending time
outdoors, learning about their natural environment and taking excursions to
nearby places of interest.

The club's activities include day hikes of various levels of difficulty, canoeing,
visits to museums, gardens and historic sites, and dinner meetings with
speakers on topics related to our activities.

The club is affiliated with the New York-New Jersey Trail Conference and does
trail clearing at Six Mile Run in Franklin Township, New Jersey.
